‘Alexandre Girault' is a robust Wichuraiana climber. An abundance of intense cherry pink flowers with white in the centre and lighter pink on the back of the petals appear in late May or early June. The flowers are flat and very full. They have a pleasant apple scent. The long branches are supple and pliable,their entire length is covered with clusters of 5 to 9 flowers. A non repeat-flowering vine rose that starts early in the rose season with an overwhelmingly long flowering period. The leaves are beautifully dark green and shiny. New shoots are easily formed and start at the base making 'Alexandre Girault' a perfect variety for covering pergolas, arches, pyramids, fences or walls.
The Alexandre Girault variety was obtained by the Orléans house Barbier et Cie and put on the market in 1907. It bears the name of one of the employees of this family business.
